Ocean and climate : getting hot in here !

Exposition Océan et climat : chaud devant !
from November 20, 2015 to November 30, 2016.
As part of COP21 on climate change and as a member of the Ocean and Climate Platform, Biarritz has chosen to focus on the role played by the ocean in these upheavals.
It thus presents at the Cité de l’Océan a new exhibition, “Ocean and Climate: Watch Out!”, co-produced with the National Sea Centre of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Nausicaá and in partnership with Météo-France and the National Museum of Natural History.

The ocean is at the heart of the global climate machine!

This exhibition thus allows visitors to understand the essential role of the oceans in climate regulation, the impacts of global warming on our daily lives, and the solutions to limit its extent.

A realistic and educational journey

For immediate awareness, the visitor is first immersed in spectacular images of rising waters, before entering the heart of the oceans to better grasp the central role of the ocean in the climate and current changes.
Next, the visitor heads to the laboratory of the National Museum of Natural History to discover scientific work on the effects of these upheavals on wildlife.
Then, a brief stop at the poles, North and South, first witnesses of this changing world, before discovering the impacts of these climate changes on humans.
The visit ends on a note of hope and optimism with the mobilization and actions of citizens from all continents who are committed, notably through the initiatives of islanders, the first to face these upheavals.
At the end of this immersion in the heart of climate issues, in a space evoking the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations, everyone can express their priorities concerning the climate and commit as a citizen via a consultation kiosk.
